Eating in Kerala

Today's posting will focus on the fine foods of Kerala.  Since Kerala is in southern India, a tropical area, their staple food is RICE.  The Indians here eat RICE with everything!

The banana leaf makes an excellent plate.

Here we have a traditional lunch in Kerala, complete with rice and curry sauce.

Here is a picture of a breakfast meal I enjoyed with my host mother, Leila, here in Trivandrum.

We ate:
-iddly (steamed rice and lentil cakes)
-Chinese bananas
-sambar (spicy mixed vegetable soup)
-avial (mixed vegetable and coconut curry)

No cornflakes in Kerala!!
